Oh look, a post!

Hello.

Oh god the only reason I'm blogging is because I so desperately want to tweet but I can't. And I need to tell my feelings on the web just to feel content.

Sigh.

Well it's been about...4 months since I last updated? Oh wow, don't blame me. Do blame time that moves too fast for me to catch up. And my boring life that revolves around lectures, exams and the occasional (understatement of the year) spazzing.

I...actually have nothing much to say. Hope everyone's doing well. I constantly pray for everyone's safety, because that's all I can do.

No ones actually asked me how it's like fasting in Jordan. It's, well, sort of the same? Haha. Ok I suck :|

Til we meet again!

random tidbits to those wanting to study at Jordan

salam.
this is just from my point of view. i've only lived in Jordan for about 7 months? so yeah.
still a newbie. absorbing things. learning.

Random tidbits on Jordan

You don't have to know Arab...
-yes, they'll talk to you in Arab like you're a local but you can take your time to learn the language, like what other people do. or you can just stick to a friend thats good in Arab and let that friend do all the talking, like what i do.

You can't trust anyone...
-this kind of applies at all places but anyway, be ready to get cheated. whether it's the taxi uncle or the person selling onions, they know no mercy. since they see you as someone who can't speak Arab+not a local = very easy to fool. you can fool them by learning some useful Arab phrases like 'Don't mess with me' etc. but make sure to practice it first so that it sounds natural.

You will be judged...
-by anyone and everyone. and also from all aspects. clothing, attitude to even who you talk to. you can choose to get all worked up from it, or ignore it. and yes, it is normal for Arabs to see you like you've grown another head.

You're not Malaysian...
-they'll normally refer you as Chinese. or Indonesian. they practically don't know Malaysia. but you'll mostly be called 'Ali Baba'. you don't want to know what it means.

Stop comparing Jordan to other countries...
-yes, their technology is way left behind. and they like to delay their work. so stop comparing them to other countries to save yourself all the heartache.

Food is nice...
-if you like oily/almost-everything-fried food. oh, and its perfectly normal to gain around 10 kilos in the first few months. if you go back to your hometown and people call you fat, just shove them a shawarma and they'll understand. hopefully.

Smoking...
-is like breathing to them. i think almost everyone smokes here. wait, the girls not so la but the boys, yes they smoke like their lives depend on it. so by coming+living here you are probably losing a few years of your life. on the bright side, at least you know in advance. ^^

hurm, thats all i can think for now. if i can think of anything else i'll post it.
okthankyouchao.
:D

i'm back

and apparently i'm blogging at a quater to 3am. oh well.

i just found a rather stunning discovery.
that our hearts work rather stupidly amazingly.

apparently, u can love someone who doesnt even know you.
u can care and worry about someone who doesnt even take a second glance at you.
u can lose sleep and appetite over someone that doesnt even know your name.

so here i am. not being able to sleep cause i just found out u were involved in a car accident.
through i heard u werent seriously injured, i'm still losing sleep because of u.

and the irony of it all is u dont even know me.
sigh.

Last Day in Syria -Suq Halawiyat, snow?

salam.
yay last day! haha XD
we slept at a highland place (GAH CANT REMEMBER THE NAME) on the 3rd night in hopes of seeing snow.
we weren't disappointed! through most of the snow has melted... its still snow right? hehe.

sign of winter - no leaves at the trees

hehe stepping on snow

i think i like this image XD

i think it'll be hard to play hide-and-seek during winter

you can see some snow at the back :D
yes, VERY FEW but better than none, right?

사랑해 (saranghae)
meaning: i love you! :D

if you've watched my gf is a gumiho, you'll understand what this means XD

Second place, Suq Halawiyat!
suq means market in arab while halawiyat means sweets. you know, like kuih.

examples of halawiyat.

Third Day in Syria-Suq Hamidi. makam Ahlul Bait etc

salam.
3rd day of Syria trip.

i gotta say, one unique thing about Syria is, you don't have to go far to find a mosque.
i think, from one mosque to another is around 300m max?
and yet, the mosque will be full when it's prayer time. :D

i also like the buildings' design. it has a french kind of design.
i guess its cause they got colonized by the french before, thats why.

so firstly, we went to makam ahlul bait. the people buried there are either related to the Prophet Muhamad (PBUH) or are people that have contributed to Islam.

after that we went to Suq Hamidi.
its a place to shop!
lol, the prices are just the same.

i guess the specialty is that its big. so there's alot of shops.

besides that, we also went to the shrine of Salahudin al-Ayubi

this is an empty tomb given as a gift by the king of germany.
beside it, theres another tomb with Salahudin's body.

next stop was the Umayyad Mosque.
the mosque is so beautiful.

this is makam nabi yahya, which is in the mosque.

kat Syria kan, the kids are SOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO CUTE. lol.
i'm not really a fan of kids. haha. iuno why.
but i just couldn't stand to see them at Syria.
gosh, they were like models.
seriously. look at it yourself.
they have such round eyes. haha XD
and they look super pure.

this is the killer. the most cutest one of all.

can't stand them in winter outfits. they look so chubby XD
gahahahahha.
alrite. done with day 3.
chao :D

Second Day in Syria- Tartus, Masjid Khalil al-Walid

salam!
2nd day we headed to Tartus.
ade island kat area tu, but seriously I can't remember the name of the island.
hehehe. so anyway, we went to the island by ferry.
lol. how long has it been since i rode a ferry. i think i've only rode a ferry if my family and i were headed to langkawi.

ocean! sea! i missed u :D

with room mate, ain :D

soaking up the sun. lol XD

this was the castle we wanted to go to but it was closed.
it's called Arwad Castle (Qala'ah Arwad in arabic)

after that we stopped by at Masjid Khalil al-Walid to pray.
inside this mosque, theres the makam of Khalil al-Walid.

later that night we went to this place that had alot of kincir air. they still use it up to today :D

after taking this pic, my friend was like "tak lame la tu, kau join dieorg pakai purdah plak."
my respond: o.O

l-r: ain, bay, pico, mone, ecah, me, nado, meng

thats all from second day.
soooooo sorry cause i suck at remembering names of places.
chao! :D

First Day in Syria - Bosra

salam.
so now i'm gonna blog about my trip to syria recently.
i went from the 17th til 20th of jan 2011.
sorry i can't really write much about it as i can't seem to remember the details.
hehehehehhe. but the pictures are pretty :D
and they do say that a picture says a thousand words.
so i don't have to say much. lol.

First historic destination- Bosra
we went to a an old theater.

outside view

l-r: mone, pico

at one time, u can fit around 15,000 people in the Colosseum
